How ADI-diary selects pupils for an operation
There are two places where a pupil can be selected: Pupil Selection Bar and the Filter List

Pupil Selection Bar

Pupil Selection Bar

Filter List
Filter List The Filter always has priority. If the Filter List is visible (F4 key) then all operations apply to the selected pupil in the List – if not, then to the 'Pupil Selection Bar' in the top-right corner

To select a different pupil into the bar, press F3 key.

It is a matter of personal preference how you want to select a pupil. The filter is a powerful tool but sometimes it can obstruct the view of some lessons on the screen.

Of course you can resize the filter or move it around, but you can also make any floating window, including the Filter List, semi-transparent.
